Comments: I've been using Chuckit's for nearly twenty years and this one is a awful. It will not let go of the ball unless it's launched sideways. If launched overhead it just about drops a few feet in front. Super disappointing. I hurt my elbow trying various overhead launches with no success. Other reviewers mention tall people had no trouble launching.
Bottom Line: No, I wouldn't recommend this product to a friend
Comments: This launcher is great when my 6'4" partner is using it as his height and long arms make throwing with it seem easy, but me at 5'5" with my arms barely as long as this launcher become an awkward bumbling mess unable to successfully launch the ball at all as the physics just don't align. It's all about proportions, keep that in mind if you're on the short side like myself. I've gone back to using a smaller one we had before when I walk the dog by myself.
Bottom Line: Yes, I'd recommend this product to a friend
